Responsibilities

First and foremost, become an approved LISD volunteer!

Classroom Parties

The class celebrates a few holidays throughout the year. The Room Volunteer Coordinator will remind you when scheduled events are coming up. Each teacher has different expectations, so please coordinate with your teacher.

PLEASE KEEP FOOD ALLERGIES IN MIND.

• • Check the google drive to copy & paste emails for certain parties. You will be responsible for creating a sign-up genius or coordinating items coming in for these parties/events.
  • Send at least two emails to class parents regarding each event. One giving notification of events, and one giving reminders. Be sure to copy your teacher on the emails and BCC the parents.
  • Send the first notification email for each event at least two weeks in advance.
  • Send the reminder email at least three days prior to the event.

Your Teacher’s Birthday

You will receive a copy of your teacher’s favorites things from the Room Parent coordinator but you can also find this on the Staff Profiles page.

There is a document on the google drive for you to copy & paste to send to your class. Please be sure to plan a birthday celebration for your teacher. This can be kept simple but please acknowledge their birthday in some sort of way.

Teacher Appreciation Week

A coordinated, school-wide weekly schedule will be provided for you. There is a document on the google drive for you to copy & paste to send to your class. You can attach your teacher’s “favorite things” to the email.

Please remember to BCC your parents on every email.

Teacher Gifts

Class gifts can be given to teachers throughout the year, holiday parties, & teacher birthdays, You can collect voluntary monetary donations or individual gifts. Not all families may be able to contribute much or at all – consider this when you choose the gift. Even if a parent does not donate towards the gift, the gift should be from the whole class.
