Welcome, potential room parents

Responsibilities

Classroom parties

• The class celebrates a few holidays throughout the year. The Room Volunteer Coordinator will remind you when scheduled events are coming up. Each teacher has different expectations, so please coordinate with your teacher.
• Please keep food allergies in mind.
• Check the Google Drive to copy and paste emails for certain parties. You will be responsible for creating a sign-up or coordinating items coming in for these parties and events.
• Send at least two emails to class parents for each event: one giving notification, and one giving a reminder. Copy your teacher on the emails and BCC the parents.
• Send the first notification email for each event at least two weeks in advance.
• Send the reminder email at least three days before the event.

Your teacher’s birthday

• You will receive a copy of your teacher’s favorite things from the Room Parent Coordinator, and you can also find it on the Staff Favorite Things page.
• There is a document on the Google Drive for you to copy and paste to send to your class. Please plan a birthday celebration for your teacher. This can be kept simple, but please acknowledge their birthday in some way.

Teacher Appreciation Week

• A coordinated, school-wide weekly schedule will be provided for you. There is a document on the Google Drive for you to copy and paste to send to your class, and you can attach your teacher’s favorite things to the email.
• Please remember to BCC your parents on every email.

Teacher gifts

• Class gifts can be given to teachers throughout the year, at holiday parties, and for teacher birthdays. You can collect voluntary monetary donations or individual gifts.
• Not all families are able to contribute much, or at all. Please consider that when you choose the gift: even if a parent does not contribute, the gift should be from the whole class.
